Happy 5th Birthday Weston!

Today is Weston's 5th birthday. On one hand it feels like it's been so much longer, but on the other hand it seems like it was just yesterday that we were sitting in the NICU being mesmerized by him. We sure do miss him and know he would have been an amazing big brother to Cash.

Doctor Appointment 12.22.08

Today I had another checkup - just 10 days since my last and I gained 4 pounds! Yikes!!! Everything's still lookin' good. I get another ultra sound at my next appointment so am very excited for that. It's so hard to believe that our little feller will be here in just 9 weeks! Wow! This pregnancy has gone by so fast. I really need to get cracking on the nursery. That's my New Year resolution - to have the nursery done by February 1.

28 Weeks Pregnant + 28 Week Checkup

On Dec 9th we hit our 28th week of pregnancy. I had my checkup on the 12th. Everything's going great still - my blood pressure is still normal, and I passed my glucose test, which was a blessing. I did gain 7 pounds in the past month (yikes!) but didn't get the evil eye from my doctor this time. ;) When the doctor did the fundal height measurement, he said I've definitely grown the past month. He said I'm actually measuring borderline big which was fantastic news to me after going through my pregnancy with Weston measuring small every time. Johnny said he needs to go in and have the doctor measure his belly as he's getting fat. LOL. The doctor asked me if the baby's moving much. What a question with this kid!!! I told the doctor I feel like I've got an octopus growing in my belly as Cash moves ALL the time!!! He's constantly moving all day long, when I fall asleep at night and still when I wake up in the morning. When he gets here, he's either NEVER gonna sleep or he'll be so tired from all his acrobatics in utero he'll sleep all the time! Either way, I don't care as long as he's healthy. I go to the doctor every two weeks now so my next checkup will be Dec 22.

Today Johnny took me to Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville so I could do some much needed clothes shopping at the maternity store. I was in dire need of some clothes and undergarments so was a huge relief to get new ones! At least I can breathe now! :) Johnny got a cute book called Father To Son: Life Lessons on Raising a Boy that is filled with life lessons on raising a boy. After walking all around the mall, then going to Wal-Mart to do our grocery shopping, my feet are killing me! I'm gonna try talking Johnny into a foot massage but not sure that'll fly as he's not too big on that. It's worth a try!

25 Week Ultra Sound

We had our 3rd ultra sound of the pregnancy today. It's still a boy. :) He's measuring on track, which was great news. Cash currently weighs 1 lb 11 oz - compared to Weston's 1 lb 7.4 oz when he was born. Cash was moving around so much the ultra sound tech had some trouble getting any good pictures of him. He had the hiccups during the ultra sound and at one point was playing with his feet, then threw one of his legs up over his head. It was pretty funny to watch. I'm not really sure yet who he looks like - kinda hard to tell even from the 3D ultra sound. I think his face is more round like mine, though....

24 Week Checkup

Today Johnny & I went for my 24 week checkup. Everything's still looking great. We didn't get an ultra sound today, but we go back next Friday for one. We're really looking forward to "seeing" the baby again. He's been moving and kicking a lot and appears to be growing at the correct rate according to the fundal height measurement the doctor took. If everything looks good on the ultra sound and continues to go well, Cash will be making his appearance in about 15 weeks!
The doctor did say if the physical therapy on my lower back doesn't start helping soon then I need to stop going. He also put me on a work restriction which will only allow me to work 4 hours a day at my job because of all the standing and the "up and down" with taking pictures. That's to hopefully help with the lower back pain I've been having as well as to keep the risk of other serious complications down.

Belly Dancing?

Today I called Johnny at work to tell him I could see my belly popping out when the baby kicked. It kept cracking me up and was such a new and exciting step in our pregnancy as we never got to experience that with Weston. I knew if Johnny was home he would have been able to finally feel the baby. When Johnny got home from work, the baby started kicking again so I grabbed Johnny's hand and placed it on my belly. The baby gave one last BIG kick, and Johnny looked at me with his eyes really big and said "Oh! I felt that!" I'm so thrilled that things are going so well up to this point. Actually seeing my belly moving when the baby's kicking is funny & exciting, and feeling the baby move is so incredible - I just love it!

20 Week Checkup

Today I had my 20 week doctor appointment. I got the evil eye from him because unlike I stated in my last post, I've actually gained a total of 9 pounds now - six were in the past four weeks! Yikes!!! He took the fundal height measurement & the baby appears to be growing at the rate he should be.....or it could just be all that weight I put on..... ;)

20 Weeks Pregnant

Today we are 20 weeks pregnant. As you can see, my belly hasn't popped out much, but it's definitely getting bigger. I also haven't gained much weight (probably only around 5 lbs total), which isn't a bad thing! :) I feel the baby moving quite a bit. He apparently takes after his parents and loves to eat because he goes bonkers when I eat. LOL. I'm very excited for Johnny to be able to feel the baby move - maybe in a couple weeks.

I also started a new job last Friday. I now work at JC Penney's Portrait Studio at Crossroads Mall in Waterloo. So far I'm just doing training so am trying to learn everything. I got to take my first pictures today. They were of a baby boy who wasn't very cooperative. He was pretty fussy and kept making crazy faces so not too many good pictures in that bunch. I think it's going to be fun. Next Friday I get to take Drake & Darek's (the twins Mom babysits) 3 year pictures. I'm looking forward to it.

It's a BOY!!! (16 Week Checkup)

We are currently 16 weeks 5 days pregnant. On friday (Sept 19th) I had an ultra-sound and we found out we're having a BOY. Johnny & I both knew for sure we were having a girl (as did pretty much everyone else) so when we heard the words "it's a boy!" we were very surprised. It took the rest of the day for it to completely sink in for me that it's a boy, but we're both extremely happy. It was so reassuring to find out that his growth rate is on target, my blood pressure is still normal and the little guy looks healthy. I also had my first weight gain of this pregnancy- a whopping 3 pounds! We got to see some 3D ultra-sound pictures of the baby which was really neat. He's very active and was moving around almost the entire ultra-sound----maybe practicing his football....or basketball....or golf? I have a feeling this little fella's gonna be a pistol and always up to one shenanigan or another - much like his daddy. ;)

12 Week Checkup

Today I had my 12 week doctor appointment. (We're actually 12 1/2 weeks along). The nurse (Jamie) had a tough time getting a read on the baby's heartbeat long enough to count the beats. Seems like this little one's doing lots of gymnastics and wouldn't be still. Jamie finally got a good reading and the baby's heartbeat was 160 which was "perfect". I'll have another ultra sound already at my next visit. My fingers are crossed that we'll find out the sex as I'll be 16 1/2 weeks along at that point. We think it's a girl but only God knows for sure right now!
Everything is going good so far. I haven't gained any weight at all since finding out 6 weeks ago that we're pregnant. Jamie said it's nothing to worry about as it's still early days.

Shootin' it up

Every morning I have to give myself a shot of Lovenox to thin my blood. This is to hopefully help prevent the growth restriction that Weston had. It's not a lot of fun and sometimes burns like crazy. I give myself the shots in my thighs, alternating every day, so both of my thighs are completely black and blue. Good thing I'm not going to the beach!

Expecting Baby Jenkins

July 3rd I found out through a home pregnancy test (okay, make that three home pregnancy tests!) that we are expecting our 2nd child. On July 9th, the doctor confirmed it and I was able to see the baby and hear the heartbeat through ultra sound. The ultra sound showed that we are 6 weeks pregnant which gives us a due date of March 3. I surprised Johnny with the news that night. He wasn't sure what to think or say. I think that he was a little apprehensive to be too excited. As we get further along in the pregnancy we're both getting more and more excited. Johnny's family came up for a visit, so we surprised my parents and Johnny's dad, sister and brother-in-law with the news on July 19. They were all extremely surprised and thrilled! We sent Johnny's mom a brag book with a picture of the ultra sound in it. Needless to say, she wasn't expecting it either and is very happy for us.

It's......POSITIVE!

On July 3 I took two home pregnancy tests and another on July 4 - just to be sure. The first test I took was a very faint positive (probably from all the water I drank that day!) and within an hour the positive line had faded completely which is why there are only two tests in the picture.
