Project Nursery Closet: Completed!

Johnny spent this afternoon installing the organizer in the nursery closet, then I spent some time hanging some of Cash's freshly washed clothes. It looks so great!!! I can't wait until we have the entire nursery done! Hopefully the furniture will be here sometime this next week and we can put stuff together next weekend.

35 Week Checkup

Cash & I had our 35 week checkup today. Everything still is going well. I told my doctor I'm not feeling Cash move as much as I had been feeling him and let him know it's been worrying me a bit. My doctor told me not to get worried if I don't feel the baby move. His advice was to drink a Mt Dew and eat a candy bar, then lie on my side in a quiet room and within 10 minutes I should feel the baby move. I think more for my peace of mind than anything he did a non-stress test to check Cash's movement and heartbeat, and everything checked out great. He's going to do one at my next appointment, too, along with scheduling our C-Section which I'm very excited about. Only about 4 weeks left!
Yesterday Johnny ordered the crib and changing table. They're supposed to be here in about 10-14 days. It'll be fun to get that stuff and get it all set up. This Saturday will be devoted to finishing the nursery closet, washing baby clothes & hanging them up, and taking stuff out of boxes. The next weekend will probably be spent rearranging furniture in our bedroom, putting together the crib and changing table and moving some furniture around in the living room to make room for the pack 'n play. Then maybe I can con my mom into coming over the following weekend and helping me clean so everything's nice and neat when we come home from the hospital.... ;)

Working on the nursery

Today while I went through baby clothes, Johnny painted the nursery closet then he and Dad hung up the light. It looks so much better than it did! Johnny removed the weird setup the previous owners had going on in the closet then mudded and sanded all the holes left by the huge nails that were in the walls. As you can see from the picture, the closet walls were awful. Johnny's been working so hard on it, and it looks great. After he gets the closet organizer installed next Saturday, there shouldn't be much left for him to do except put the crib, changing table and pack 'n play together.
As Johnny was painting the closet, I was going through the baby clothes and sorting them by size so I can wash them and put them away next weekend. If you can see in the picture of the mess in the nursery, there is a laundry basket piled high and a tote completely full of 0-6 month clothes for me to wash next weekend. I'll be busy next weekend! :) The rest is pretty much just boxes of stuff that need to be unpacked and put in their places. After next weekend, things should start coming together pretty quickly in his room. Very exciting!!! :)

34 Week Checkup and Ultra Sound

Our 34 week check-up went great today. We had another ultra sound to see where Cash is at with his growth. He's about 11 days behind my original due date so is about the same growth rate as two weeks ago. He put on some more weight and now weighs 4 lbs 2 oz. Everything is looking good. My doctor said we'll do a repeat ultra sound in a couple weeks just to check the growth rate again and make sure Cash isn't falling farther behind.

My face, hands and ankles are nice and swollen. My ankles are quite disgusting, actually, as you can barely see the ankle bone for the swelling. I may have to go shoe shopping soon since I have a really difficult time getting my shoes on now. Sigh. I told Johnny & the doctor I feel like an elephant at this point - and still have five weeks to go. Oh well. As long as Cash is growing and healthy, that's all that matters.

Cash's Baby Shower

Today was Cash's baby shower. It was held by my aunts and cousins. I had fun and got some great gifts that I can't wait to use! Some of the things we got were money, Target gift cards, a fleece blanket with baby animals on it, a pirate shopping cart cover, diapers, diaper Genie's (one for upstairs and one for down - can't have the dogs running off with dirty diapers!), a wipes warmer, Pooh sleeper, a train outfit, a giraffe blanket, a Sit to Crawl Polar Coaster toy, diaper bag, nursing cover, safari brush set (so he can keep handsome!), a bouncy seat, bottle warmer, an angel ornament, Boppy pillow, hangers, spoons, mitts (so he doesn't scratch himself), burp cloths, 2 Pooh body suits, an orange and white bottle brush (go Vols!), some onesies... Lots of great things!

I did get a couple of duplicate gifts as sometimes seems like things don't show as being already purchased on the registry even though it's been scanned, so Johnny & I went to Target later to take those things back. While we were there, I picked up a few more things: a Baby Einstein book, the book What To Expect The First Year, some cute tennis shoes (for Cash, not for me. LOL), a hooded bath towel and some bibs. We're going to order the crib and changing table soon so will hopefully have that in time to get it all set up. Johnny's been working on the nursery closet as it needed some patch work and painting and a light fixture hung up, then he has to install the closet organizer. He's going to try to get that all done next weekend. It seems like we still have a million things to do and no time to get everything done! The next few weeks are going to go by so fast!!!

My Follow-up Appointment

My follow-up appointment to my trip to the doctor last Wednesday went well today. I did get the headache back on Sunday afternoon and have been feeling sick off and on since then, too, but again no change in vision and no chest pressure so just keeping an eye on that. My doctor wants to see me every week now so got all my appointments set up from now until the end of February. He said that at every other visit he may repeat the test to see if I possibly will go into labor within the next two weeks, but that's just another thing we're kinda playing by ear.

This Saturday is my baby shower. I'm really looking forward to it as never got to have one with my family for Weston. Hopefully this weekend Johnny & I can order some of the bigger stuff we need, like furniture, so we get it in time to get it all set up before Cash makes his appearance.

Not Feeling So Hot

Today I left work at 10:00 due to the excruciating back and lower abdominal pain I was experiencing - much worse than it has been the past couple months. I also had an extremely bad headache and was feeling sick to my stomach. I called my doctor's office and was told by the nurse to go home and try a warm bath for the back pain and Tylenol for the headache. She said if I wasn't feeling better by 1:00 I was to call her back. The warm bath did help my back for a few hours but the Tylenol did nothing for the headache, so I called Jamie (my nurse) back. She said I needed to get in to be seen by my doctor, so off Johnny & I went to my doctor's office. Johnny called my parents to see if they could go, too, in case it ended up not being anything too serious, then he would just go to work when we were done and my parents could drive me home. The doctor ended up finding out that just from yesterday to today I had gotten a really bad kidney infection which was contributing to some of the back pain. My doctor wasn't sure about the headache but said it was a good sign that my vision hadn't changed and I wasn't having chest pressure as both of those along with a headache are signs of toxemia. He did do a test to determine if I would go into labor in the next two weeks (it's 98% accurate) and that came back negative - another good sign. Now I'm on an antibiotic for the infection, off work for the rest of the week per doctor's orders, and I go back for a follow-up appointment next Wednesday. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be a long 7 weeks.....?

32 Week Checkup + 32 Weeks Pregnant

Today we are 32 weeks pregnant and had our 32 week checkup. Everything is still looking good. The doctor wants another ultra sound at my next appointment (Jan 19) because Cash is measuring 30 weeks 5 days instead of the 32 weeks he should be. Dr Onuigbo just wants to make sure there's not another lag in growth in the next two weeks. We were able to see in the ultra sound that Cash has hair and will have lots of it by the time he's born, from the looks of it! I'm excited about that. I love babies to have lots of hair. He also appears to have his Daddy & Weston's skinny legs (poor feller, LOL). He had his hands up by his face and kept waving at us. His current weight is 3 lbs 8 oz. I'll post ultra sound pictures as soon as possible. They were having some issues with the cd drive on the sonogram machine so couldn't burn the pictures to a disk for us, and our scanner won't scan to our laptops.
